Section 2. Happiness & Hope Mai lbox of Peace 052 053 Korea Foundation & US Peace Corps KF COVID-19 Survival Box Gratitude Letter Col lection I would be remiss on this Christmas Day , if I did not remember to express my gratitude to you , your staff and the Korea Foundation for the lovely gift of a Survival Box that suddenly appeared on the door step late in the Fall . In truth , our postman was very curious as was the village Post Master of our local post office . My wife , Hwasoon , and I were touched by your thoughtful- ness and generosity , especially given our months of mask wearing and the loneliness of socially separating ourselves from extended family . The box and it ' s contents were very warmly received , especially the video . Your box was reminiscent of that rare care package from home while serv- ing as a Peace Corps Volunteer - wrapped in brown paper , tattered with nu- merous stamps attesting to it ' s journey halfway around the world and filled with little things evoking comfort and a sense of appreciation . Though times have changed - faster shipping & better packing - your gift was just as joyfully accepted from our second home , Korea . < omit > Volunteering in Korea was a gift - never a hardship . I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to serve . Thank you again for your thoughtfulness . “Volunteering in Korea was a gift - never a hardship” Michael Mullaney , K - 15 Michael & Hwasoon Mullaney My wife , Susan Cowell , and I would like to thank you and the Korea Founda- tion for the KF Covid - 19 Survival Boxes . We were both in the Peace Corps Korea 10 program from 1970 through 1973 in Daegu . We now live in an apartment building in New York and gave masks to the the building staff who must be masked at all times . The bulk of the masks we gave to St . Michael ’ s Church next door . The Church has extensive programs for children and the needy and can readily use the masks . We very much enjoyed the video . Its scenes were very familiar to us . When we were serving in Korea the country was poor but we we were well aware that its people were pursuing success . That have achieved so much so quickly testifies to their strength . Again thank you for the Survival Boxes . We visited Korea in October 2019 for the wonderful Revisit trip . When the pandemic ends we look forward to coming back to Korea for another visit . Best regards , “The bulk of the masks we gave to St. Michael’s Church next door” Charles Lauster , K - 10 Charles Lauster & Susan Cowell New York
