The survival package is much appreciated and will be well used . But the package to me represents far more than just its contents . It engenders the two years of fond memories living and working in Korea that I still hold dear to my heart . While many years have gone by since living in Korea , I still maintain connec- tions to your country as best I can , either through the Korean food that I eat , the recipes that I try or through browsing the internet and finding articles on Korean life , culture and progress . I am pride to say that I lived and worked in Korea . And I can honestly say it gave back to me more than what I gave to it . I can only hope that I might be able to visit again someday . When I first heard that you were preparing this gift to former Peace Corps Volunteers , I nearly cried . That you would reach out to us this way after so many years was too wonderful to believe ! But then I hesitated – in Japan , where I live , our situation was nothing like that in much of the world , and although masks were difficult to come by at the time , I had already made some for my carefully “ social distancing ” fam- ily . But now , I ’ m very , very glad that I changed my mind . All the lovely presents that accompanied the masks have cheered me up considerably – and the medical - grade masks have become absolutely essen- tial for me .
