Section 2. Happiness & Hope Mai lbox of Peace 036 037 Korea Foundation & US Peace Corps KF COVID-19 Survival Box Gratitude Letter Col lection From 1971 - 1974 , I lived in Chollanamdo Gwangju as a Peace Corps Volunteer who taught English , first at the middle school level and then at Chonnam Na- tional University . Those years were an extraordinary and formative time in my young life . My experience in Korea was greatly enhanced through the care and sup- port of the family with which I lived , the teachers with whom I taught , and the life - long friends that I made . As evidenced by the KF COVID - 19 Survival Box , all these years later , Korea and Koreans remain concerned for my well - being . The desire of the Korea Foundation to help Peace Corps Volunteers , the thoughtfulness that went into selecting the items in the box , the moving vid- eo message , the time and care taken to produce and package the contents : I am overwhelmed by the goodwill gesture . The generosity of the Korean government , as a whole , and the Korean peo- ple , as individuals , is — and forever will be — deeply appreciated . So that others might also benefit from the kindness of Korea , the KF80 / 94 masks have been shared with those in my community who are less fortu- nate than I . With thanks from the bottom of my heart , “I am overwhelmed by the goodwill gesture” Nancy Morrin , K - 19 Nancy Morrin It is with the utmost respect that I am writing to thank you for the kind gift that the Korea Foundation , the Korean government , and the Korean people have sent to us former Peace Corp Korea volunteers during these trying times . I am deeply touched that in these trying times that you thought of us . < omit > As someone who has dedicated their career to providing diagnostics for infectious disease and understands the impact of diseases and the impact that small gestures can make in the lives of others , I stand awed by the re- sponse that Korea has made towards addressing the pandemic . The includes Korea ’ s rapid internal response to the pandemic , as well as Ko- rean diagnostic companies quickly developing accurate tests and making them available worldwide in some cases free of charge . As I work with governments in a number of low - and middle - income coun- tries to address the pandemic I always have them look at how Korea re- sponded and impress upon them that they can respond in a similar manner and that Korea has been incredible in its rapid economic ascent . < omit > The lessons that I learned from 5 . 18 and my initial 3 years in Korea from 1978 until 1981 that has helped me throughout my life . Now I have been taught a new lesson by the kind gift that you have provided to a long friend of Korea and the Korean people . With the deepest respect , “I am deeply touched that in these trying times that you thought of us” David L . Dolinger , K - 45 David L. Dolinger, Ph.D
