Section 1. Memor ies of Korea Mai lbox of Peace 028 029 Korea Foundation & US Peace Corps KF COVID-19 Survival Box Gratitude Letter Col lection What a wonderful surprise it was to receive your recent gift , the COVID - 19 Survival Box . The box could not have come at a better time for us here in Pennsylvania . My wife and I were absolutely delighted to unpack each and ev- ery one of the several thoughtful enclosures , all with a spirit of thankfulness . While Korea has much to be proud of , its own spirit of thankfulness for help provided by others , is chief among them . We who have experienced the real Korea up close and personal , know that the true “ Glory of Korea ” is its people . All of my memories of Korea in Kang Won Province , in Sam Chok Up , in Sung Nae Ri , are vivid , warm and genuine . Whether teaching at the High School , interacting with colleagues professionally or in the Sul Jib , walking the village streets , living for 2 years with the Kim Yoon family or eating delicious um- shick at home or in the shick dang , ( despite some periods of understandable homesickness ) I was always grateful for the opportunity you gave me to live in your country . By your gift , you have allowed me to rekindle the memory of some wonderful times I experienced as a young man along the Eastern Sea , in the Land of the Morning Calm over 50 years ago . Sincerely , “Know that the true ‘Glory of Korea’ is its people” George Delaney , K - 2 George Delaney Pennsylvania Dear Friends , Just a short note to thank you so much for the Covid - 19 Survival Box . How appropriate and generous . As a former Peace Corps Volunteer ( K - 35 , 1975 - 1977 ) I remember the kind- nesses and generosity of the Korean people . This kit continues to represent those characteristics of the Korean people , along with their hard work and strength . I remember my time in Korea fondly , its beauty and character . My family loves Korean food which I make very often , including kim chee . But my fondest memories are those of my health center co - workers and the many people with whom I worked , lived , and played . Again thank you so much for still thinking of us , as we still think of you and Uri Nara . Sincerely , “I remember my time in Korea fondly, its beauty and character” Joanne Trovato , K - 35 Joanne Trovato
