Section 1. Memor ies of Korea Mai lbox of Peace 020 021 Korea Foundation & US Peace Corps KF COVID-19 Survival Box Gratitude Letter Col lection Can you imagine my surprise when I saw this ENORMOUS box from the Ko- rea Foundation !!! I was so touched ! I will share the supplies in this box with my entire , extended family ! This wonderful act of generosity and care reminded me of so many others I was the recipient of during my service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Korea . I served as a Maternal / Child healthcare worker in the Seonghwan Eup health center , Chung Cheong Nam province in 1981 . Ms . Lee , Chang Suk was my co- worker and the Family Planning worker at our small health center . From the first day I arrived in town she helped me find a place to live , shop for my yo and ibol , cooking pots and dishes . She introduced me to the market vendors and shopkeepers . < omit > When my Peace Corps term ended , I was given a beautiful blue hanbok by Ms . Lee and the wonderful women I worked with at the health center . I was so taken aback by their gorgeous gift . I felt that there was no way I could re- pay them for their kindness . I feel that way again . While my Peace Corps service was for a short time , I still am connected to your country and people . One of the things I learned in my time as a volun- teer is that the personal connections we make are most meaningful and ef- fective . The visits my Korean coworkers and I made to the villages surround- ing the health center allowed those villagers to meet us , learn about health services and help us understand their needs . We made connections that made a difference to the health of the villagers but also to us , giving meaning to our work . I thank all the people who were involved in creating this box , those who had the idea to offer it to us in the US , those who offered and procured the sup- plies , those who packed and addressed the boxes , those who delivered them for shipping and anyone else involved . Thank you , thank you , thank you . Wishing you all good health and happiness this holiday season . With gratitude , “I still am connected to your country and people” Kathleen Good , K - 50 Kathleen Good I would like to take a moment to express my sincerest gratitude for the COVID - 19 care package . The time spent in Korea in So Ah Village in Pan Sung Myun , Jin Yan Gun , had an enormously positive and unforgettable impact on my life that I continue to share frequently even to this day . Korea , thanks for being a part of my life , and fond memories of a lifetime ! 정말 고맙습니다. “Korea, thanks for being a part of my life, and fond memories of a lifetime!” Benjamin Bryan , K - 48 Benjamin Bryan
