Section 4. Handwr itten Letters 116 117 Mai lbox of Peace Korea Foundation & US Peace Corps KF COVID-19 Survival Box Gratitude Letter Col lection Thank you so very much for the COVID-19 Survival Box. It brought so much joy to know you remember us and our work in Korea. Of course, it is I who should be thanking Korea. My time that from 1976-78 expanded my world and changed my life. The kindness and sharing of the Korean people is wonderful. Sincerely, “The kindness and sharing of the Korean people is wonderful” Pu So Young , Karl Paulson , K - 38 Pu So Young, Karl Paulson I was one of 70 Peace Corp Volunteers sent to Korea between 1967-1969 to work in rural public health. I lived in Dong Sa Ri, Cholla Puk Do and was assigned to Kae Jong Hospital and the Nursing School. I was under the directorship of Dr. Yi Yeong Chun, the distinguished doctor who began his work in rural health in 1935. It was a privilege to work for him. He died in 1980. <omit> I lived with the young family for almost two years and had a wonderful life experience in the village. I learned to enjoy a vegetarian diet and appreciated the cheerfulness and hard work of the farmers. I am still in contact with the family and visited them twice in ten years. They also came to visit me in San Francisco. <omit> In less than 40 years, Korea has developed into a nation I did not recognize. I am proud and excited to see this modernization come true alive in Korea. I humbly accept your gifts as I do not deserve this Covid 19 care gift you sent me. I shall thank you for a lifetime of wonderful memories, the friends I made, the beautiful countryside, life’s lesson on patience and humility. “I have taken more from Korea than I have contributed to your country” Vicky Lowe , K - 4 Vicky Lowe
